Ruth Spangenberg, 92, of Carmichaels, died Wednesday, August 15, 2018, in Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, following a lengthy illness.
She was born November 1, 1925, in Mapletown, a daughter of the late Walter Jiles and Leola Herrington Spangenberg.
Miss Spangenberg was a 1944 graduate of Mapletown High School. After high school, she worked for the FBI in Washington, D.C., for eight years. Miss Spangenberg later attended Columbia Bible College in Columbia, S.C., graduating in 1958. She worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance in Waynesburg until her retirement in 1985, after 25 years of service.
Miss Spangenberg was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are two nieces, Kimberly Michniak and Julie R. Gjormand; two nephews, Dr. Harold Jiles Haney and Charles Walter Spangenberg; four great-nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law Rose Spangenberg.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, are two brothers, Walter “Dub” and Charles D. Spangenberg; sister, Lynette Haney; and sister-in-law Lois Spangenberg.
