John W. Alrutz

John w. Alrutz, 72, of Midway, died Sunday, August 12, 2018, in Washington Hospital.

He was born November 5, 1945, in Midway, a son of the late Frederick and Irene Williamson Alrutz.

John was a graduate of Fort Cherry High School Class of 1964, Pittsburgh University and was a human resource specialist with the Corps of Engineers. After retirement, he worked as CSA consultant with Washington Presbytery Center.

He was a member of Raccoon Presbyterian Church and life member of Midway Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 520.

John was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, wood working and flower gardening. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Roberta “Betsy” Shoup Alrutz, and children John Wayne (Helen) Alrutz and Heather (Mike) Massey, all of Midway; and grandchildren Gregory Alrutz, Nikolas, Jakob and Kolton Massey.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Alrutz, and sisters Mildred Koty, Marlene Alrutz and Alice Hlavay.

At the request of the deceased, all arrangements are private and are entrusted to Thomas-Little Funeral Service Inc., 106 St. John Street, Midway, 724-796-3301. Interment will be held in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Raccoon Presbyterian Church, 858 Candor Road, Bulger PA 15019.
