Julia Kander Galuppo
Julia Kander Galuppo, 90, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018.
She was born Monday, July 2, 1928, in Stockdale, a daughter of the late John “Jake” Kander Sr. and Elizabeth Bedner Kander.
She was a member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church of Charleroi.
After graduating from Charleroi High School in 1946, she had worked in the offices of Atlas Merchandise Personal Finance and Walley Motors. In 1952 she married David Galuppo from Monessen. She was an avid Steelers fan.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant son, John Michael Galuppo (October 27, 1957); three brothers Emery Kander, John “Jake” Kander Jr. and George Kander; and two sisters, Mary Kurtz and Elizabeth Jeney.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Survivors include two sons, David Galuppo Jr. and Dale Galuppo, both in the state of California; a daughter, Denise Galuppo of Charleroi; and her godchild, Donna Locilento of New Jersey; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and until 10:15 a.m., the time of a panachida service, Wednesday, August 22, in Mariscotti Funeral Home Inc., Anthony N. Mariscotti, supervisor, 323 Fourth Street, California, followed by an 11 a.m. divine liturgy in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 808 Meadow Avenue, Charleroi, with the Rev. Stephen Wahal, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Coal Center.
In lieu of flowers, Julia requested contributions to be made to Washington Area Humane Society, P.O. Box 66, Eighty Four, PA 15330, Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church, 808 Meadow Avenue, Charleroi, PA 15022, or favorite charity of one’s personal choice.
