Donnie L. “Pap” Hamilton Sr., 86, of Daisytown (Clover Hill), passed away peacefully Friday, August 17, 2018, in his home, surrounded by loving family.
He was born February 10, 1932, in Wickhaven, the youngest son of the late Alden Clair and Stella Midge Hissom Hamilton.
Donnie was a 1949 graduate of Monongahela High School.
He was a proud Korean War veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Taconic. For his service, he was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal, National Defense Medal and Good Conduct Medal. As a veteran, he kept membership in American Legion Post 945, Harrisburg.
Mr. Hamilton was a self-employed masonry contractor, establishing and running CVJ Construction for 16 years. He then became a construction coordinator and architecture representative for numerous private and commercial companies, overseeing projects such as Washington Mall, Mon Valley Health Center and high rise apartment buildings for the elderly in the Mon Valley area. The next several years of his career involved traveling extensively throughout the United States as a project manager, visiting sites and the completion of projects for a major general contractor. Until his retirement, Don worked for several local engineering firms, overseeing many local, city and county reconstruction projects.
Pap’s favorite pastime was keeping up with attending his grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s activities and sporting events. He enjoyed going to The Meadows, keeping up with all the local high school and Pittsburgh sports teams and completing his daily Sudoku and crossword puzzles.
Left behind to cherish his memory is the love of his life and his wife of 62 years, Ruth Douylliez Hamilton.

Natali (Jamie Sr.) of Paden City, W.Va.; a sister, Sandra Walsh of Donora; six grandchildren, Donnie L. Hamilton III, Andrew Hamilton, Steven Hamilton, Jamie Natali Jr., Joshua J. Natali and Jesse L.
