Elizabeth Elaine Zaney
Elizabeth Elaine Zaney, 96, of Cecil, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018, in her home.
She was born March 13, 1922, in Kane, a daughter of the late Thomas and Grace Curtain McQuillan.
She was a member of St. Mary Parish, Cecil, where she was a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed reading, sitting on her porch and spending time with family. She would work hard on their farm and insisted on a neat and orderly home.
She was a graduate of Kane High School and University of Pittsburgh, from where she earned a degree in microbiology.
She worked as a phlebotomist and medical lab technician for the state of Pennsylvania at Woodville and Mayview state hospitals for 34 years, until she retired. A year later, she resumed her career as a traveling phlebotomist for Lab Corp. and re-retired at 86 years of age.
Surviving are son Raymond (Sarita) Lawrence Zaney of Cecil; grandchildren Raymond (Elizabeth) Zaney, Sarita (Scott Zeszetek) Zaney and Elizabeth (Abram) Soldati, all of Cecil; great-grandchildren Maria Imhoff, James, Morgan, Riley and Raymond IV Zaney and William and Addaline Soldati; and two sisters, Madeline (Leonard) Rence of Fridley, Minn., and Grace Snyder of Scott Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Leo Zaney, who died in 2013; sister Maida White; and brothers Jim McQuillan and William and George, who both died in infancy.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Cecil, where prayers of transfer will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 29. A Christian funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Parish, Cecil, with Father Stan Gregorek officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
