Emma Nicole Cumpston, 12, of Greensboro, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Friday, August 24, 2018, in UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, from complications due to a long-term illness.

She was born November 1, 2005, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Daniel J. and Tina M. Barton Cumpston.

Emma was currently a student in Southeastern Greene School District.

Emma participated in activities at Stepping Stones in Morgantown, W.Va., where she was the recipient of the 2017 Miss Ability pageant. She enjoyed horseback riding at On Eagles Wings in Fairmont, W.Va., swimming, boating, frequent trips to the arcade with her dad, board games, playing school, cuddling with her dog, Gigi, and making toys for her beloved cat, Agatha. Her absolute favorite movie was “Tangled.” Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her infant cousins. Emma was “everything to her family.”

Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her sister, Jenna M. Cumpston, at home; paternal grandparents Robert and Susan Cumpston of Greensboro; three aunts, Diane Price and companion Ernie Lancaster of Greensboro, Brenda Sokol and husband Jim of Hedgesville, W.Va., and Kim Cassedy and companion Barry Hazlerig of Greensboro; an uncle, Thomas Barton Jr. and wife Kimberly of Greensboro; and many great-aunts, great-uncles and cousins.

Deceased are her maternal grandparents, Helen and Thomas Barton, and an uncle, Robert “Robbie” Cumpston Jr.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Yoskovich Funeral Home, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels, 724-966-5500, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, with Pastor A.J. Bowers officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro.
