Robert Joseph Aloe
Robert Joseph “Spud” Aloe, 63, of West Alexander, passed away Thursday, August 23, 2018, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born August 31, 1954, in Washington, a son of the late Louis James “Bud” Aloe and Mary Catherine Sim Aloe.
Spud worked as a coal miner at Consolidated Coal, until he attended West Liberty State College and West Virginia Northern Community College, from where he received a bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy. He worked at UPMC-Magee Women’s Hospital as a respiratory therapist, until his retirement.
Spud loved all Pittsburgh sports organizations and he was a Pittsburgh Steelers season ticket holder for 25 years. He coached youth baseball in the Bethlehem and Wheeling, W.Va., areas. He loved going to Myrtle Beach, S.C., with his family and being near the ocean. Spud loved his family, especially his grandchildren. He was Catholic.
Surviving are his loving wife of 19 years, Donna Holman-Aloe; two daughters, Mariah (William Manns) Aloe and Mishay Holman; two grandchildren, Jadah Wildren and Quartez Manns; two brothers, Mike (Lynn) Aloe and Edward Aloe; a sister, Judith (James) Seabright; his mother-in-law, Mary Holman; two sisters-in-law, Tina Holman and Darla (James) Hughes; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m., the time of service, Tuesday, August 28, in Kepner Funeral Homes, 166 Kruger Street, Wheeling, 304-242-2311, with Pastor Mike Palmer officiating.
