Peter L. Diesel, 61, of Grand Blanc, Mich., died Monday, August 27, 2018, in his home, in the arms of his family.

He was born September 10, 1956, in Canonsburg, a son of Robert and Bertha Diesel.

On July 11, 1981, in Clairion, he married Deana L. Curll.

Peter was a devoted husband and adoring father and grandfather. Some of his greatest joys were spending time with his family and babysitting his grandchildren. Peter had a contagious smile and his personality filled any room. He was strong in his faith, which pulled him and his family through the most difficult times. Pete enjoyed playing golf and cooking with his wife. He tended to bite off more than he could chew with home improvement projects. He treasured family road trips to national parks and walking his dog.

Peter was an active member of Holy Redeemer Parish, Knights of Columbus Council 10170, State Bar of Michigan, Genesee County Bar Association and the Grand Blanc community.

He was an attorney and partner at Garan Lucow Miller PC and lived his life in service of others. Peter was called home too soon and will be missed dearly.

Surviving are his wife, Deana L. Diesel; children, Jill Diesel (Jon P. Campbell), Erin D. (Tad T.) Roumayah and Sara J. Diesel; his mother, Bertha M. Diesel; grandchildren Eleanor L. Roumayah and June E. Campbell; three sisters and a brother, Sandra (John) Hankey, April (Bill) Hahn, Robert (Pam) Diesel and Kimberly (Chris) Anglin; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He also anticipated the birth of a grandson.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert M. Diesel, and cherished grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from noon to 2 and 5 to 8 p.m. Friday in Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint, Mich. A Knights of Columbus service will be held at 6:30 p.m., followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 1, in Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 1227 East Bristol Road, Burton, Mich., with Father Steve Anderson, Father Luke Krotkiewicz and Deacon Bill Hahn co-officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Diesel will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until until the time of the Mass Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Karmanos Cancer Institute, 4100 John R Street, Detroit, MI 48201.
