William “Bill” Edward Lowe, 37, of Claysville, Donegal Township, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018, in his home.

He was born September 27, 1980, in Hershey, a son of William E. Lowe of Middletown and Linda Cunningham Lowe of Claysville.

Bill was an electrician by trade but learned farming through trial and error. He could figure out how to do anything and wasn’t afraid to learn, from driving tractors, baling hay and building fences. He loved animals and especially Hanny, Boo and Yoda the goat. He had a great sense of humor and could keep you laughing, even when you wanted to hit him. His feelings were always right there, bigger than life. He loved the Grateful Dead and could cry thinking of Jerry Garcia’s death while listening to an anniversary concert over the radio. He loved tie dyed shirts and concerts. He loved his friends and would always be the first to help a neighbor or friend in need.

Bill also had another side – the addict side. He fought his addiction, but lost his battle Tuesday.

His mother reflects, “Our plans for the farm came to a halt. He called them my projects that he wished I would quit thinking up! His plans for his future came to an end. Nothing ever prepared me to lose him that way. As a mother, you try to prepare yourself, you pray he’ll stay off it and live to see another day. You were special, a free spirit and sensitive. Loving easy and hurting deeply, maybe too much for this world. The demon drug won and your life ends for what? Addiction – the next high? Rest in peace, Bill. We love you and will miss the straight you, the fun you and the crazy sense of humor you, but never the addicted you.”

He is survived by his mother, Linda Cunningham Lowe; his father, William E. Lowe; brother John (Mika) Rehrer; sister Angela L. Lowe; nephews Justin and Kaito Rehrer; niece Alyssa Rehrer; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Deceased are his grandparents, Donald and Louise Cunningham and George and June Lowe.

Friends will be received from noon to 2 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, September 2, in Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 219 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323, 724-663-7373, www.youngfhinc.com. Interment will be held in Claysville Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to City Mission or Washington Area Humane Society.
