Pierre A. Perrache, 94, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

He was born August 13, 1924, in Gorze, Sur Moselle, France, a son of the late Henri and Marie Cherry Perrache.

In France, Mr. Perrache was an apprentice blacksmith in the railroad industry. After immigrating in 1948, he worked as a maintenance supervisor for Albert’s Packing. He then worked for Green Valley Packing, until his retirement in 1990.

In 1941, he joined the French Forces of the Interior, also known as the French Underground. His unit was trained to destroy telephone lines and other Nazi communications. He joined the French Army following the liberation of Epernay. During his fifteen months, he spent five months on the front lines in the battles of Metz, Saint-Avold, Merleback, Carlington and Saarelois. In 2012, he was honored at the Conneaut, Ohio, D-Day re-enactment, as the only member of the French Underground to ever attend.

In April 1951, in Washington, he married his wife, Lily Jeanette Perrache, who died December 20, 2017.

He enjoyed boating and was a former member of Ten Mile Yacht Club.

Surviving are a son, Glenn (Linda) Perrache of Washington; a daughter, Simmon Linden of Washington; two brothers, Roland and Jeannot Perrache, both of France; two sisters, Françoise and Nicole, both of France; six grandchildren, David (Jodi), Jacob (Mandy) and Max (Lisa) Perrache and Casey (Brandi), Jonathan (Courtney) and Timothy (Jessica) Linden; and seven great-granchildren.

Mr. Perrache also had another great-grandchild on the way.

Deceased are a son-in-law, John Linden; a brother, Fredrick Perrache; and his stepmother, Marie Louise Perrache.

The staff of Amedisys Hospice took exceptional care of Mr. Perrache in his final days.

At the request of the deceased, all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Directors Inc., Charles R. Piatt, supervisor, Lawrence K. Donovan, director.

Memorial contributions may be directed to a veteran’s charity of the donor’s choice.
