Anita Louise Sargent Cancelmi

Anita Louise Sargent Cancelmi, 96, of Washington, died Thursday, December 6, 2018, in Premier Washington Health Center, Chartiers Township.

She was born February 2, 1922, in Washington, a daughter of the late Ralph and Mary Carlet Sargent.

Mrs. Cancelmi was a member of Immaculate Conception Church and a 1941 graduate of Washington High School.

She worked for Bell Boy Cleaners for many years, retiring at 78.

Mrs. Cancelmi enjoyed playing cards, horse racing, bingo and was a self-taught piano player, who appeared on Major Beau’s.

On April 11, 1948, in Washington, she married Joseph Cancelmi. Mr Cancelmi died October 3, 1973.

Surviving are brothers Vincent (Audrey) and Fred (Peggy) and sister Elaine (the late Thomas) Milhollan. Also surviving are many nephews and nieces.

Deceased, in addition to her parents, are sisters Elvira Perry and Eleanor Cromp and brother Ralph Sargent.

Friends will be received from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Piatt and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, December 10, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut Street, Washington. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the charity of one’s choice.
