Betty Lou Gontas, 77, of Washington, died Friday, December 7, 2018, in her home.
She was born April 9, 1941, in Washington, a daughter of the late Russell James “Pete” McWhorter and Betty Elizabeth Durbin McWhorter.
Mrs. Gontas was a graduate of Washington High School.
For over 10 years, Betty worked at Mayview State Hospital.
She enjoyed traveling, camping, swimming and going to the casino.
On December 10, 1960, she married John Gontas Sr., who survives.
Also surviving are a son, John Gontas of Washington; daughter Betty Jo Gontas of Washington; brother Russell McWhorter of Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Carolyn Jeffers.
Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, December 9, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. There will not be a service. Friends and family are invited to pay their last respects immediately following visitation at 7. A private burial will be held in Washington Cemetery at a later date.
