Charles D. Henderson

Charles D. Henderson, 77, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, in his home, surrounded by his loved ones.

He was born April 9, 1941, in Waynesburg, a son of the late Darrel and Beatrice Hughes Henderson. He was raised by the late Allen and Helen Jacobs and June and the late Dick Shriver.

On August 27, 1960, he married Linda Patton, who survives.

Mr. Henderson retired after working for 45 years as a mechanic. He worked for Park-Will Oldsmobile, Haney Olds and John Howard Motors, all in Waynesburg. He also worked for a year as a bricklayer’s helper during the construction of Waynesburg fire hall.

He was Methodist and a member of Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 461 in Waynesburg.

Chuck was a farmer at heart. He raised sheep and cattle and loved his Haflinger ponies. He enjoyed helping his kids and grandkids in all of their 4-H projects.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Judy (Rex) Nelson and a son, Don (Gretchen) Henderson, all of Waynesburg; five grandchildren, Melinda (Rich) Ford, Dustin Henderson, Molly Cheek, Nick (Holly) Nelson and Tyler (Brooke) Nelson; and 10 great-grandchildren, Kol, Aylah, Chloe, Camden, Louden, Lilly, Easton, Cooper, Hayden and Emmett.

He also leaves behind his pony, Prince, and his beloved golden retriever, Kelsey.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a great-granddaughter, Stella Mae.

Friends will be received from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, with the Rev. William Parker officiating, followed by interment in Fairall Cemetery. Condolences may be offered at www.behmfh.com.
