Peter D. Ramsey, 73, of California, formerly of Centerville Borough, passed away Wednesday, November 28, 2018, in Golden Living Center, Canonsburg.

He was born August 29, 1945, in Brownsville, a son of the late Thomas and Marion Crockett Ramsey.

Pete was a 1963 graduate of Bethlehem-Center High School and a 1967 graduate of California State Teachers College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree.

Mr. Ramsey was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving during the Vietnam War. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm.

Mr. Ramsey was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Denbo, and a member of American Le gionHancock-McCune-Horne Post 705, Centerville.

Pete enjoyed reading, nature and people. He especially loved his immediate and extended family and friends. He was the go-to person for family history. Pete will always be remembered as a gentle, kind soul, caretaker by nature and great conversationalist.

Surviving are a sister, Margaret Miller of Beallsville; brother Thomas J. Ramsey (Beverly) of Middleburgh, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a brother, James Ramsey; sister Nancy Jo Wright; nephew W. Warren Miller Jr.; and two brothers-in-law, William W. Miller and Joseph K. Wright Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, December 14, in the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 970 Main Street, Denbo, PA 15429, with Pastor Rick Bowser officiating.
