Harold Richard Welling
Harold Richard Welling, 67, of Graysville, passed away Wednesday, December 5, 2018, in his home with his family by his side.
Born March 5, 1951, in Wind Ridge, he was a son of the late Harry and Ethel Clara Ward Welling.
Harold was a longtime resident of Graysville. He graduated from West Greene High School in 1969 and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Waynesburg.
On May 27, 1972, he married the love of his life, Phyllis D. Moninger, and they shared 46 wonderful years together.
Harold enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially for deer and turkey. For him, deer hunting began in summer when he started to scout for the biggest buck and continued through numerous spotting trips into deer season, his favorite time of year. Harold also enjoyed carpentry, gardening, NASCAR races and his yearly pilgrimage to the Indy 500, football games, going on trips and spending time with his family.
During the final 25 years of his career, Harold worked maintenance for the National Guard Armory in Waynesburg and was a maintenance foreman for Washington Area Parks and Recreation in Washington. Before those jobs, he worked as a carpenter in the 1980s. Harold was a very skilled handyman and carpenter and always felt fortunate he found a career he was able to enjoy.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis D. Welling of Graysville; two wonderful children who adored him, Jason Lee (Eunah Park) Welling of Bridgeville and Amy Elizabeth (Brad) Hartman of Waynesburg; two precious grandchildren, Caleb James and Abigail Elizabeth Hartman; a sister, Mary Ann (Bob) Postlethwaite of Wind Ridge; a brother, Benjamin (Lonna) Welling of Cameron, W.Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, deceased are a brother, Kenneth Welling, and a sister, Harriett Welling.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC, 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359, 724-499-5181, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 14, with Pastor David Lake officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Graysville.
