Herman Francis Kroboth, 86, of McMurray, peacefully passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.

He was the beloved husband of Emily Medved Kroboth for 45 years; loving father of Robert (May) Kroboth of Colorado and Bradley (Susan) Kroboth of Bethel Park; caring stepfather of Wendy (Mike) Mildner of Scott Township; proud grandfather of Abby Mildner and Corey and Jenna Kroboth; son of the late Herman and Pauline Kroboth; brother of Pauline Faessel; and treasured cousin of John (Joanne) Kroboth of McMurray. Many cousins, nieces and nephews also survive.

Herman was a proud graduate of Bethel Park High School, Class of 1949, and the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering in 1953. He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a 1st lieutenant, head of the Army division and pay master in Germany. Herman traveled extensively throughout Europe during his service.

Herman then started his career at U.S. Steel Corp., Irvin Works, where he received the title of chief general supervisor of production planning. At the age of 52, in 1984, Herman was able to retire from U.S. Steel.

After retirement, he continued with U.S. Steel UEC as a self-contractor, traveling to Brazil, Mexico and Yugoslavia.

Later in life, Herman was an ardent wine maker and enjoyed fishing. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Funeral arrangements by Beinhauers. Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211, where a blessing service will be held at 11:45 a.m. Thursday, December 13. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with full military honors.
