John L. Koletar Jr.
John L. Koletar Jr., 87, of Houston, died Monday, December 10, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
He was born March 23, 1931, in Duquesne, a son of John L. and Mary Csokuly Koletar.
Mr. Koletar was a graduate of Duquesne High School. In 1952, he graduated from University of Pittsburgh with a degree in civil engineering. He received his master’s degree in business administration from University of Pittsburgh in 1960.
John spent most of his career as plant engineer for Mesta Machine in Homestead.
He attended Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church.
John was known for his tenacity and infectious laugh. He loved sports, doing word puzzles and following the stock market on his iPad.
His family always came first. He will be sorely missed.
In 1956, he married Leona Christ, who died January 14, 1984. In 1998, he married Nancy Koller, who survives.
Also surviving are four daughters, Dr. Susan L. Koletar of Columbus, Ohio, Kimberly Dorsey (Craig) of Orange, Calif., Amy Latham (Brian) of Springfield, Ohio, and Cindy Masters (Chuck) of Bethel Park; three grandsons, Cameron, Ryan and Zachary Latham; a sister, Marie Grega of Burke, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a sister, Gerry Micklo.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342. An additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, December 15, in Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church, 112 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, PA 15317, with the Rev. Don Coleman officiating. Interment will be private.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Canonsburg United Presbyterian Church or National Kidney Foundation, Finance Department, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016.
