Gloria Zonca DeRosa

Gloria Zonca DeRosa, 84, of Monongahela, died Wednesday, December 12, 2018, in her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born April 16, 1934, in Monongahela, a daughter of the Steve “Nat” and Anita J. Polonoli Zonca.

A 1952 graduate of Monongahela High School, Gloria worked for 43 years at the former Integra Bank (Key Bank) in Monongahela, until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Monongahela, where she served on the finance committee for 35 years and was active with the holiday nut roll sale.

Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey G. DeRosa and Stephen J. and wife Deanna DeRosa of Monongahela; a daughter, Mary Anne and husband Paul Simpson of North Charleroi; three grandchildren, Gary DeRosa, Natalie and husband Anthony Pisano and Gino and wife Nikki DeRosa; and the light of her life, great-granddaughter Nia Nicole Pisano. She is also survived by their mother, Cheryl Haines DeRosa, who had always been like a daughter; a brother, Peter and wife Rita Zonca (who has always been like a sister); sister-in-law Antonietta Cortese; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and many loving and devoted friends.

She also had another great-granddaughter due to be born in April 2019.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Alex DeRosa, who died August 7, 2010.

Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, where blessing prayers will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday, December 17. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Damien of Molokai Parish, Monongahela, with Father Kevin Dominik and Father William Terza concelebrating. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Amedysis Hospice, 100 Stoops Drive, Suite 300, Monongahela, PA 15063, who were her angels on Earth during her final courageous and gracious fight with breast cancer, or to St. Damien of Molokai Parish, 722 West Main Street, Monongahela, PA 15063.
