Michelle L. Marling Anderson
Michelle L. Marling Anderson, 42, of Holbrook, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018, at home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a very caring person and put everyone’s needs first. Even through her battle with cancer, she did not want people to know because she didn’t want anyone to worry about her.
Born May 23, 1976, in Fairmont, W.Va., she is the cherished daughter of J.B. and Sandra A. Marling of New Freeport.
Michelle graduated from West Greene High School in 1994. She continued her education at Waynesburg College and graduated in 1998 with her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry. In 2004, she received her master’s in environmental science from Kennedy Western.
She was employed by Alpha Natural Resources for 18 years as an Environmental Specialist. Michelle found her dream job working for MarkWest Energy in Houston for 2 ½ years as an Environmental Coordinator, where she always joked about being “Overpaid and Underworked.” Her co-workers and contractors at MarkWest Energy were her friends.
She attended Truth Assembly Chapel, Burton, W.Va.
Michelle was very witty and made people laugh. Her greatest title in life was being called “Mom.” She was involved in every aspect of her children’s lives. She loved going to all of her boys’ sports events. Michelle was always cheering them on as well as their teammates and photographing their plays.
She had a special place in her heart for kids and the elderly. Michelle judged science fairs at Carmichaels High School and helped with the PA Envirothon in Greene County. Her hobbies included crafts, painting, photography, gardening and walking barefoot outside. Michelle owned Bite Me Bakery, where she specialized in unique cake and cupcake designs.
She enjoyed family vacations hiking the national parks in Utah and Arizona, as well as annual vacations with family and friends in Florida. No matter where she and her family went, they were making “memories” together, that her family will hold in their hearts for a lifetime.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her high school sweetheart and husband of 20 years, Larry Anderson of Holbrook; her two awesome boys, Colton and Bryce, who were the joy of her life and meant the world to her. She was a very special person, loved by her parents, husband, children and friends. She will be greatly missed, but always remembered in the hearts of many of those she touched.
She was preceded in death by her grandfather, James A. Marling; grandmother, Lillian Marling; and aunt Jenny Marling.
Friends are welcome from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC, 3275 West Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 19, in the funeral home, with Pastor Jason Morgan officiating. A graveside service will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township.
Michelle would raise money to buy coats and blankets for children in need, send blankets to the rest home residents and volunteer at the local food bank. The family suggests in Michelle’s memory to “Pass it Forward” and do an act of kindness for someone in need.
