Julia Ann Ginzer, 98, of Rices Landing, died Saturday, December 15, 2018, in Evergreen Personal Care Home, Waynesburg.
Mrs. Ginzer was born September 27, 1920, in East Vandergrift, Westmoreland County, a daughter of the late William and Anna Stravinski Petroski.
Julia was a graduate of Vandergrift High School.
On September 20, 1940, she married Harry John Ginzer, who is deceased.
Mrs. Ginzer was a homemaker and resided in Penn Hills for many years.
Julia is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth (Betty) Vucic and her “favorite son-in-law” Frank of Rices Landing; four grandchildren, Amy Chess (Edward), Michael Vucic, Jennifer Shumar (Ron) and Bryan Vucic; and four great-grandchildren, Emily and Annie Chess and Jacob and Julia Shumar.
Deceased are three brothers and sisters, Elmer, Andrew and Joseph Petroski and Milly Jurkones, Ann Sikorski and Lillian Vetro.
Julia was a member of the AARP group of Penn/Forest Hills and enjoyed traveling with them. She enjoyed playing cards, baking, embroidery and even cleaning and ironing for her family.
Julia was always thankful for all who helped her through her long life. She felt blessed to have loving children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Anova Hospice & Evergreen Personal Care Home took great care of Julia.
She took pride in being one of the first residents at Oaks Retirement Community of California.
Julia requested no public services. Just show a little more kindness, thoughtfulness and gratitude toward your family, friends, co-workers and strangers.
