Donald Lee Richmond
Donald Lee Richmond, 77, formerly of Washington, passed away quietly Wednesday, December 12, 2018, near his home in Burlington, Mich.
Don was born April 2, 1941, in Washington, a son of Lee Richmond and Clara Marie Richmond.
He attended Washington High School, where he was active in sports and co-captain of the Washington Little Prexie football team. He also played baseball for many years and was a member of the 1955 Pony League World Series championship team.
After graduating from Washington High, Don attended Michigan State University, where he played football for four years. He also did his graduate studies there and earned a master of science degree. He went on to teach at Lakeview High School in Battle Creek, where he also served as wrestling coach.
Don’s love of farming prompted him to purchase a farm in Burlington, where he raised crops and several harness racing horses.
Surviving are a sister, Jean P. Massaro; nephew, Cary John Massaro and his wife Teresa Massaro; and a niece, Erica Jean Massaro, all of Riceville, Tenn.
A small private service was held near his longtime farm and home in Burlington.
