Virginia Louise Strimel, 90, of Canonsburg, formerly of Cecil, died Monday, January 29, 2018, in North Strabane Health and Rehab.
She was born March 9, 1927, in Collier Township, a daughter of the late John and Julia Stenzel Halley.
She married Leon Frank Strimel in 1949 and together they raised their children, to whom she dedicated her life. Mrs. Strimel took great pride in her home and loved being in the kitchen cooking for her family. She cherished her friends and neighbors, with whom she played cards, and enjoyed dancing. She was a member of Cecil Alliance Church, Cecil American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, McDonald-Cecil and South Fayette Senior Citizens Groups.
Surviving are a son, Leon A. (Denise) Strimel of Canonsburg; daughter Eva (Donald) Graziano of Cecil; three grandchildren, Christa (Bryan) Schutt of McMurray, Capt. Brad (Anna) Strimel of Fort Hood, Texas, and Grant (fiancée Tara) Strimel of Canonsburg; great-grandchildren Frederick, Eliza and Greta Schutt; sister Jean Potts of South Fayette; and sister-in-law Mary Strimel of Mansfield, Ohio.
Deceased are her parents; husband Leon Frank Strimel on July 26, 1999; three sisters, Elizabeth Miller, Jane Potts and Gloria Mae, in infancy; and two brothers, John A. and Walter Halley.
Services were private at Coleman-Taylor Funeral Services, 3378 Millers Run Road, Route 50, Cecil, with Gateway Hospice Chaplain the Rev. Sue Petritis officiating.
Interment was in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
The family suggests memorial donations to Gateway Hospice, 95 West Beau Street, Washington, PA 15301.
