William Slater Brown Sr., 73, of Avella, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018, in his home.

He was born March 9, 1944, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late John Slater Brown and Margaret Getty Brown.

Mr. Brown was a graduate of Montour High School and received an associate’s degree from Pittsburgh Technical College.

He was a farmer, who enjoyed hunting, working the apple festival, the county fair and spending time with family.

On May 1, 1970, he married Deborah Moore, who survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John (Dana) Brown and William Slater (Brittany) Brown Jr., both of Avella, and four grandchildren, Ashlyn, Christopher, Dustin and Lynsee.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 p.m., the time of service, Sunday, February 4, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Richard Narus officiating. Burial will be private.
