Jennie Russo Vaccaro, 93, of Monongahela, died Thursday, February 8, 2018, in Monongahela Valley Hospital.
She was born February 5, 1925, in Webster, a daughter of Nicola and Maria Sirianni Russo.
A graduate of the former Rostraver High School, Mrs. Vaccaro worked for many years as a crossing guard at the former St. Anthony Church in Monongahela and former Monongahela High School.
She was a member of the former St. Anthony Catholic Church, Monongahela, where she served as one of the first presidents of the Altar Rosary Society and always helped in the kitchen, cooking for their annual Festa.
In her spare time, Mrs. Vaccaro enjoyed making ceramics and spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband of 71 years, Vince “Jim” Vaccaro; three sons, John (Patricia) Vaccaro, Vince (Charlotte) Vaccaro and Dennis (Mecca) Vaccaro, all of Monongahela; nine grandchildren, Chris (Danette) Vaccaro, Jeff (Amy) Vaccaro, Damon (Angel) Vaccaro, Darren (Amy) Vaccaro, Dana (Jon) Laughlin, Anthony and Nicholas Vaccaro, Maria (Chad) Ebbitt and Alisha Vaccaro; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased are a son, Michael T. Vaccaro, who died May 28, 2016; five brothers, James, Sam, Ross, Patsy and Anthony Russo; and five sisters, Betty Bolognse, Lucy Gentile, Josephine Gardner, Angelina Affinto and Rose Mendicino.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Marshall Marra Funeral Home, 216 Chess Street, Monongahela, 724-258-6767, marshallmarrafuneralhome.com, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, with the Rev. Edward Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.
