Nancy Ferrell Rush, 70, of Washington, formerly of Claysville, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 8, 2018, following a brief illness.

She was born September 30, 1947, in Washington, a daughter of Virginia Hinerman Ferrell of Washington and the late Howard V. “Hardy” Ferrell.

Mrs. Rush was a 1965 graduate of McGuffey High School and 1966 graduate of the former Irene’s Beauty Academy. In 1994, she graduated as a licensed practical nurse from Western Area Career and Technical School.

She worked for Dialysis Center Inc. and various home health care agencies prior to retiring March 17, 2016, from The Caring Mission Home Health.

Mrs. Rush was a former member of Claysville United Presbyterian Church and Friendship Community Church in Washington. At the time of her death, she was attending Lebanon Presbyterian Church in Mercer.

She was a former Rainbow Girl and enjoyed picnics, camping and family vacations.

Most important and her greatest joy was spending time with her six grandchildren and attending their many sporting activities.

Surviving, in addition to her mother, are three children, Dan Rush of Washington, Douglas Rush, husband of Melanie, of Houston and Gretchen Hurst, wife of the Rev. August Hurst of Volant; six grandchildren, Madison, Raeghan, Kyle and Lauren Rush and Autumn and Grayden Hurst; a sister, Jo Ann Cook of Claysville; her former husband, Gene Rush and wife Judy of Rogersville; a nephew, Lance Cook; and a niece, Heidi McIntyre.

Deceased, in addition to her father, are a brother-in-law, Delmar Cook; and her former husband and companion, Burt Mounts.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, February 12, with her son-in-law, the Rev. August Hurst, officiating. Interment will follow in Claysville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Standish Assisted Living, 158 Chestnut Ridge Road, Washington, PA 15301, for the care of Mrs. Rush’s mother, Virginia Ferrell.
