Samuel Allison Teets, 81, of Spraggs, died Saturday, February 10, 2018, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.

He was born December 5, 1936, in Kingwood, W.Va., a son of the late Alva Albin and Erma Margarette Johnson Teets.

Mr. Teets served in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959.

He was a retired coal miner and member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1702, District 31, in Fairmont, W.Va.

Mr. Teets enjoyed watching Westerns.

He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, Blacksville, W.Va.

Surviving are his wife of 58½ years, Silva Anna Auvil Teets; two sons, Leroy Teets and Terri of Spraggs and Kenneth Teets and companion Debra Rager of Cabot; three brothers, Howard Teets of Rowlesburg, W.Va., Ben Teets of Borgman, W.Va., and Jack Teets of Core, W.Va.; five grandchildren, Lindsey Wilson, Ben Teets, Zoe Teets, Random Johnson and Nana Pennington; two stepgrandchildren, Madison Rager and Hannah Rager; and five great-grandchildren, Chandler Wilson, Allen Teets, Nell Teets, Maddie Pennington and Kylie Pennington.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are a son, Dale Allen Teets, who died December 12, 2005; brother, Jay Teets; and two sisters, Louella Teets and an infant sister.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and noon to 1 p.m., the time of service, Wednesday, February 14, in Rotruck-Lobb Kingwood Chapel, 295 South Price Street, Kingwood, with the Rev. Kevin Arkola officiating. Interment will follow in Etam (W.Va.) Cemetery.
