Kristen Patrick Gaus, 50, of McKinney, Texas, passed away quietly Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Medical City McKinney.

He was born February 25, 1967, in Washington, a son of Robert and Mary Lou Gaus.

Mr. Gaus lived his early years in Washington, making a wealth of friends, being a fresh-faced kid and attending Trinity schools. His family relocated to Friendswood, Texas, in the early 1980s, where he graduated from Friendswood High School. He completed his bachelor’s degree at Southwest Texas State University and his master’s degree at University of Arizona.

His career with AEP Power allowed him the responsibility of air permitting for new and existing power plants throughout the Southwest. He was considered an expert in his field of air quality.

Mr. Gaus later moved to McKinney, where he lived for 20 years.

Surviving are a son, Robert Austin Gaus; two sisters, Lisa Brooks (James) and Lynnette Wise (Rick); a brother, Kirk Gaus (Jamie); two nieces, Maredith Laude (Josh) and Abbey Harpole (Roy); three nephews, Joel Brooks, Connor Gaus and Alex Gaus; and four great-nieces and great-nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, February 25, in Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Amity Methodist Church Cemetery.
