Edward Francis Celento
Edward Francis Celento, 83, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully Monday, February 19, 2018, in Canonsburg Hospital.
He was born July 10, 1934, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Joseph Steven and Mary Staffen Celento.
On June 10, 1961, he married Ann Morgan, who survives.
Mr. Celento was a 1953 graduate of Canonsburg High School, where he was a proud band member. He attended Tri-State College in Angola, Ind.
He served in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, where he played in Fort Monmouth Drum and Bugle Corps.
Mr. Celento worked from an early age at the family business, Celento’s Department Store. He was employed by Mosler Safe Co. and retired from Celento Trucking.
He was a lifelong member of Knights of Columbus. Mr. Celento was also a member of Corvette Club of Western Pennsylvania, where he met his wife of 56 years, Pittsburgh Garden Railway Club and Big Train Operators Club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a daughter, Diane Randolph of McMurray, and a son, Stephen M. Celento of Canonsburg.
Deceased are a sister, Regina Berzinsky, and two brothers, Joseph Celento Jr. and James Celento.
Friends are welcome from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, LFD, owner/supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120, where departing prayers will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 23. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Entombment will follow at 12:30 p.m. in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
