Robert A. Comer, 84, of New Eagle, formerly of Jefferson and Carroll Township, died Saturday, December 23, 2017, in Transitions Healthcare, South Strabane Township.

He was born October 30, 1933, in Courtney, a son of the late Anthony and Mary Leach Comer.

Mr. Comer was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1953 during the Korean War. He attended fixed wing school and was an aircraft maintenance crewman.

He retired after 33 years of employment from National Carbide Die Corp. in Pittsburgh. After retirement, he worked an additional five years at ABB Corp. in Greensburg.

Mr. Comer was a member of American Legion Post 954, Jefferson, and a former member of Monongahela Lions Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary M. Pro of Monongahela and Rhonda L. Comer and husband Vincent of Columbus, Ohio; a son, Jason Comer and wife Jess of Galveston, Texas; three stepchildren, Cindy Berry Weber and husband Carl of Finleyville, Les Berry and wife Debbie of New York and Mary Esselstyn of Washington; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his first wife, Alma L. Miller Comer; his second wife, Shirley Berry Comer; two daughters, Alma Jean Russell and Cathleen Lynn Davis; two granddaughters, Amy Pro and Gina Maria Russell; and a grandson, Ronald Davis.

Mr. Comer will be missed by his close friend, Ernie Parnell, but mostly by his red-headed stepdaughter.

Family and friends are invited to attend services with military honors at 1 p.m. Thursday, January 4, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township, with the Rev. William Terza officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Frye Funeral Home Inc., Monongahela.
