Russell Keys Jr., 86, of Highland Beach, Fla., passed away Tuesday, December 26, 2017, in Boca Raton, Fla.
He was born in Fredericktown, a son of the late Russell B. Keys and Jean “Edie” McCarty Keys.
Mr. Keys was a graduate of Pennsylvania State University and served in the U.S. Air Force. He then went to work for General Motors, ultimately retiring as district manager for the Oldsmobile division based in Charleston, W.Va.
His first job with General Motors was with the “Parade of Progress.” His team presented cutting-edge science programs in high schools and fairs across the United States. He also drove the GM experimental concept car between venues. These experiences fueled a love of travel, and vacations throughout his life reached all seven continents.
On January 8, 1972, he married Virginia Swope. Also surviving are a sister, Phyllis Curll; a nephew, Scott and Michelle Curll, and niece, Angela and Dan Knight, and their children, Alexandra and Emily; and Bernard and Rosemary Swope and Chandler Swope and their families.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a brother-in-law, Ross Curll.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to noon, the time of service, Thursday, January 4, in Beinhauer Family Funeral Home, McMurray. Burial will be in Beallsville Cemetery. Arrangements are also by Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, Boca Raton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
