George R. Ledbetter, 69, of Washington, formerly of Biscoe, N.C., passed away at 4:25 p.m. Friday, December 29, 2017, in The Greenery, Canonsburg, following a lengthy illness.

He was born January 21, 1948, in Biscoe, a son of the late Thelma and Rebecca Ledbetter.

In his younger high school years in Biscoe, Mr. Ledbetter was very athletic, excelling in football and track and field, where he broke many school records.

He worked as a self-employed painter.

Mr. Ledbetter was Christian and a follower of Jesus Christ.

He loved to fish and enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was very involved with his grandchildren’s sporting events, and he enjoyed taking them to their practices and games. He was a true family man and he will be dearly missed by all his family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, Janetta V. “Nettie” Crawford Ledbetter of Washington; two sons, James (Ramona) Gilbert of Aliquippa and Freddie Mike Kimbrew of Washington; four daughters, Shannon (Bruce) Anderson of San Antonio, Texas, Lakeysha (Laron Jackson) Gilbert of Washington, Marquita (Mark Ford) Kimbrew of Washington and Georgetta (Carl) Jones of Washington; a brother, Timothy Rose of Beaver Falls; a sister, Judy Phipps of Beaver Falls; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a great-grandson.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is a son, Kevin Robert Ledbetter.

All arrangements are private and under the direction of Warco-Falvo Funeral Home Inc., Wilson at East Katherine Avenue, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director.
