Dolores Elaine Humes Vernon
Dolores Elaine Humes Vernon, 92, passed away peacefully in her home, Monday, January 1, 2018.
She was born October 8, 1925, in Bethel Park, to the late Thomas and Mildred George Humes.
She married the love of her life, Warren Donald Vernon, December 19, 1944. Together they raised their family, to whom she dedicated her life.
Mrs. Vernon graduated from Monongahela High School and was a member of Avery United Methodist Church.
She cherished her friends and neighbors and enjoyed their neighborhood luncheons. She loved and appreciated her neighbor of 50 years, Marie Naser, who always kept a close eye on her. In addition to her love for her family and friends, she loved being in her kitchen cooking and baking and took such pride in her home.
She was truly a special lady, who made such an impression on everyone who met her. People counted themselves blessed to have had her in their lives, and she will be deeply missed.
Surviving are her two sons, Thomas (Kathy) Vernon and Greg Vernon; a granddaughter, Natasha (Blake) Brandenburg; great-grandson Bryson Brandenburg; sister-in-law Virginia Humes; and several nieces and nephews.
She was welcomed to Heaven by her loving husband, Warren D. Vernon; three sisters, Dorothy Messner, Erma Stilley and Lucille Drenik; brother George Humes; and a lifelong friend and cousin, Lois Middleton.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., the time of services, Saturday, January 6, 2018, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA.
Burial will follow in the Washington cemetery.
