John Paul “Jack” Jones, 86, of Bentleyville, died peacefully Saturday, January 6, 2017, in his home, with his family by his side.
He was born November 28, 1931, in Greensburg, a son of the late Thomas R. and Beulah Watkins Jones.
Mr. Jones was a 1950 graduate of Charleroi High School. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a private in the U.S. Army in the combat engineers. For his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Korean Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.
He was employed by Union Electric Steel in Carnegie, as a machinist, for over 30 years, before retiring in 1995.
Mr. Jones’ passion was golf. In his later years, he also belonged to Bentleyville American Post 165, Bentleyville Eagles and Bentleyville Polish Club.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Kefover (Heath) of Claysville; a son, Jim Jones (Linda) of Canton, Ga.; three stepdaughters, Denise Gallucci and Jackie Lutes, both of Wexford and Linda Pajak (Andy) of Conneticut; six grandchildren, Lauren Jones, Zach Jones, Gabrielle O’Mara, Adam Gallucci, Matthew Pajak and Diana Mirante; and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Jean Lutes Jones, who died October 17, 2007; a son, Thomas Jones; two sisters, Betty Apone and Grace Miller; and three brothers, Jay, Fred and Jim Jones.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 10, with the Rev. Zeb Thomas officiating. Interment will be in Monongahela Cemetery.
