Mattielleo Louis “Lou” Muniz, 86, of Bentleyville, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2018, in his home.
He was born in Monongahela, a son of the late Louis and Emma Trozzo Muniz.
Mr. Muniz was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving during the Korean War. For his service, he was awarded the Rifle Marksman Badge and National Defense Medal.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer and also owned and operated Lou’s Lawncare for many years.
Mr. Muniz was a member of National Steam, Horse and Gas Association, American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville, and Senior Life, Washington.
He enjoyed farming, tractors, bluegrass and old country music and dancing, especially square dancing.
On October 17, 1955, he married Velma Arlene Cain, who died July 28, 2004.
Surviving are three sons, Matt Muniz (Rose) of Coal Center, Mark Muniz of Washington and Eric Muniz of Beallsville; two daughters, Carmen Polen (Rob McFann) and Tina Muniz (Dave Malarky), both of Bentleyville; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are a son, Arthur Louis Muniz, and a granddaughter, Angela Dulaney.
Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p.m., the time of a memorial service, Friday, January 19, in Greenlee Funeral Home, 619 Main Street, Bentleyville. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 165, Bentleyville. Interment will be private.
