Jean Guthrie McWreath
Jean Guthrie McWreath, 93, of Washington, died Sunday, January 14, 2018, in her home. She was last of her immediate family.
She was born August 7, 1924, in Washington, a daughter of the late Jesse Hagan and Elizabeth Hall Guthrie.
Mrs. McWreath was a 1943 graduate of Trinity High School and retired from Brockway Glass.
She enjoyed bingo, was an avid baseball fan and enjoyed visiting The Meadows. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Mrs. McWreath was a longtime member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175, Washington, Arms Club and Alpine Club.
In August 1942, in West Virginia, she married Donald E. “Pete” McWreath Sr., who died May 26, 1984.
Surviving are a son, Sheridan B. (Kimberly) McWreath II of Meadow Lands; two daughters, Sharen L. (Sam) Humphreys of Marion, Ohio, and Janet L. (James) Perry of Pittsburgh; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Donald E. McWreath Jr.; two sisters, Betty Grace Fisher and Dorothy Mae, who died in infancy; two brothers, F. Earl Guthrie and C. Edward Guthrie; and a nephew, Richard Guthrie, who was raised by Mrs. McWreath’s parents and was like a brother.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Piatt & Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 20. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray.
