Dr. Albert Richard “Dick” Pitcock, 79, of Friendship Village of South Hills, Upper St. Clair, formerly of Peters Township and Waynesburg, peacefully passed at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2018, with his loving family at his side.

He was born May 22, 1938, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, a son of Mary Ankrom and Charles E. Pitcock.

Dr. Pitcock grew up in Dotysburg and attended East Franklin Elementary and Waynesburg High School, graduating in the Class of 1956. He lettered in baseball four years, made straight A’s and never missed a day of school. He played baseball at Waynesburg College, where he later was a member of the alumni board.

He attended Morrisville Methodist Church and was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Upper St. Clair.

After graduating from high school, he was hired as a mathematics teacher and baseball coach at Woodbury Senior High School, Woodbury, N.J., in 1961, and in 1965, he was hired by Mt. Lebanon School District as a high school mathematics teacher and baseball coach.

Dr. Pitcock received his master’s degree from University of Pittsburgh and his doctorate degree from West Virginia University in 1989. His career at Mt. Lebanon included being high school principal and director of personnel, and he was assistant superintendent when he retired in 1998.

His hobbies were hunting, fishing, golf and playing church league summer softball, and he even had a tryout with the Cincinnati Reds. He enjoyed vacationing with family and friends at Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, Deep Creek, Oglebay Resort and Florida.

Dr. Pitcock was a member of Mantua Lodge 95 F&AM of Mantua, Gloucester County, N.J., and Shriners International Organization, St. Clair Royal Arch Chapter 300, Pittsburgh.

He was a devoted and faithful husband to his wife, Jo Ann, whom he married December 28, 1961, in Bethlehem Baptist Church, Ruff Creek. They just celebrated 56 wonderful years together.

Dr. Pitcock was a loving and caring father to daughters Leslie Jo Webb (Tom) and Tricia Ann Fee (David); and grandfather to four adoring grandchildren, Katherine and Charlie Aber and Claire and Kyle Fee, who always made him smile. He had a special place in his heart for his brother, Allen and wife Linda, along with niece Amy (Rick) Schroeder and nephew Scott (Diane) Pitcock.

Deceased is a sister, Clara Louise Pitcock, who passed in November 2016.

Dr. Pitcock’s philosophy in life was “always treat people like you would want to be treated,” and he stayed true to this belief all his life.
