Dorothy Balser Renner
Dorothy Balser Renner, 91, of Townville, S.C., originally of Washington, passed away peacefully in her sleep, Tuesday, January 16, 2018.
She was born to the late Herbert Luther and Mary Moore Balser.
Mrs. Renner was a 1944 graduate of Trinity High School.
In 1946, she married her loving husband and one true love, John D. Renner Sr., who passed away in 2001. Also gone too soon were both her brothers, John and Harold; a sister, Margaret; two grandsons, Paul and Erik; a great-grandson, Derek; and her daughter-in-law, Sue.
After high school, she relocated to Baltimore, Md., to work as a keypunch operator for the Social Security Administration. She returned to Washington upon marrying. While raising her family, she worked for Dr. Super, Cohen Oil and Federal Paper Board of Washington. Later in life, she worked as a bus driver for McGuffey School District.
Surviving are her youngest sister, Juanita Balser Huffman of California; two daughters, Sharyn Robinson and Juanita (David) Russell, both of South Carolina; two sons, John Renner of Washington and Larry (Aimee) Renner of Clarksville; grandchildren Christie (Jamie) Dorsey, Jason (Meghan) Renner, Candace (David) Leonard, Joshua (Nichole) Renner, Sherrie (Michael) Hemelrick and Elaine Russell; and great-grandchildren Jacob, “Little” Erik, Trent, Autumn, Kole and Aaron.
Mrs. Renner devoted her life to and was very proud of her family. Her culinary skills and homemaking abilities were second to none. The scent of fresh-baked bread will always bring happy memories to her children.
If she could help it, Mrs. Renner wouldn’t miss a Pirates or Steelers ball game on TV. She enjoyed caring for her pets and liked playing cards and board games, gardening and arts and crafts.
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Hummell and Jones Funeral Home, Washington.
