Betty Jo Thompson Waychoff, 79, of Waynesburg, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in Washington Hospital.
She was born Friday, August 5, 1938, in Waynesburg, a daughter of the late Russell Thompson and Hannah Margaret McCracken Thompson.
Mrs. Waychoff was a member of Pursley Baptist Church, where she served as a deacon. She belonged to a card club in Pittsburgh and was a member of Women of the Moose 888 of Waynesburg. She was a former vice president of her local union and was also the former vice president of her State Union Association. She enjoyed traveling to Daytona Beach, Fla., where she spent her winters. She retired as a secretary from Central Greene Elementary School.
Her husband, Donald “Shorty” Waychoff, whom she married July 1, 1960, died October 1, 2015.
Surviving are two daughters, Kelli M. Hart and husband John and Lisa Jo Belding, all of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Chett Belding and Joel Morris and wife Becky; great-grandson Hunter Morris; four sisters, Dorothy Cady of Brainerd, Minn., Nellie Shirk of Spraggs, Sharon Powers of Canonsburg and Debbie Schaffer of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are son Lyle J. Waychoff and two sisters, Katy Stranak and Bedie Kinder.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 N. Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 21, with Pastor Robert Mooney officiating. Burial will be in Pursley Baptist Cemetery,Wayne Township, Greene County.
