Paul Franklin Lyon Jr., 71, of Wind Ridge, passed away in his home January 16, 2018 after a long battle with lung disease.

He served in the U.S. Airforce for 14 years, spending several of those in Vietnam with the 8th and 13th Bomb Squadrons as a BLMF. He started American Legion Post No. 416 in Graysville and an annual scholarship through the post for West Greene High School. He worked as a coal miner in Vesta and Pitt Gas mines, and he spent nearly 30 years with the U.S. Postal Service.

He leaves behind two sons, Brad and Chad; two daughters, Tara and Cassandra; several beautiful grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; his wife, Sharon; and two stepchildren, Hoagy and Charity. He was blessed with wonderful lifelong friends and great neighbors.

At his request, there will be no visitation. He will be interred in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Neighbors, friend, and family helped out tremendously during our time of need. If you want to help a soldier or veteran in need, in his memory, that would be great.

Flowers may be sent to the VA Nursing Home in Clarksburg, W.Va. in honor of Paul, West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility, 1 Freedom Way Clarksburg, WV 26301.
