Betty Jane Hemelrick, 66, of Hardeeville, S.C., passed with peace and grace Monday, January 15, 2018, with family by her side.
She was born September 18, 1951, in Canton, Ohio.
She was a graduate of McGuffey High School and continued on to serve her country for a short time in the U.S. Navy.
Mrs. Hemelrick had many talents and, in her words, was “a jack of all trades, master of none.”
On September 17, 1972, she married James Francis Hemelrick, who survives. They were married for 45 wonderful years.
Mrs. Hemelrick’s favorite position of employment was when she worked as a chef for Walt Disney World’s Dixie Landings Resort.
She enjoyed bingo, scratch-off lottery tickets, gardening and spending time with family.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, James, are two brothers, David and Wells Peebles; a son, Christopher; a daughter, Catherine Bushnell; two stepdaughters, Brenda Hanning and Jo Ann Hemelrick; three stepsons, James, Jay and Jan; six grandchildren, Yasmin, Victoria Hansen, Audra and Derek Baumgardner and Abigail and Collin Bushnell; several stepgrandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her parents, Wells and Katherine Peebles, and a sister, Patricia.
Hospice Care of South Carolina Beaufort provided Mrs. Hemelrick with great assistance and support.
A military service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, February 1, in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. A memorial service for family and friends will then follow in Friendship Community Church, 1090 Weirich Avenue, Washington, PA 15301. Pastor Rick Bruckner will officiate both services.
