Iva Lea Clark, 84, of Scenery Hill, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, in her home.
She was born December 4, 1933, in Washington Township, Greene County, a daughter of the late Ivan and Violet Simmons Bailey.
Mrs. Clark was a 1952 graduate of Waynesburg High School and attended Waynesburg College. She was a graduate of Washington Hospital School of Nursing, graduating June 12, 1959.
She was employed by Washington Hospital in the emergency room until 1966. During that time, she served as a relief supervisor for a year. She was also employed as a nurse by Jessop Steel Corp. and Washington Steel Corp. She then was employed by and retired from Mayview Hospital Forensics Unit.
She enjoyed reading, gardening, volunteer work, nature, history, spinning and sewing, and her book club. She had a love of animals, including Delaine Merino sheep from her father’s flock.
She was an active member and past president of Martha Washington Garden Club. Her volunteer work led her to LeMoyne House, where she worked as a docent, Warrior Trail Association, Western PA Conservancy and Citizens Library of Washington.
She was a very active, longtime member of Scenery Hill United Methodist Church.
On October 21, 1961, she married John E. Clark, who survives.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three children, Celeste Henry (Jeffrey) of Oregon and Douglas Clark and Dwight Clark (Claudia), both of New York City; five grandchildren, Elya Stinnette, Jadon Henry, Laurissa Henry, Jenna Henry and Pamela Miranda Ramos; a great-granddaughter, Everly Stinnette; sister Wilma A. Bailey of Washington; a niece; and three nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her parents, is a brother, Chester E. Bailey.
At the request of the deceased, Mrs. Clark will be cremated with no public viewing and private services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Scenery Hill United Methodist Church, in care of Tammie Kirk, 125 Suzy Lane, Daisytown, PA 15427; Davidson United Methodist Church; or Citizens Library of Washington. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to John B. Greenlee Funeral Home, 2830 Main Street, Beallsville.
