Lorrene A. Bowen
Lorrene A. Bowen, 76, of McDonald, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018, in Canonsburg Hospital.
She was born April 19, 1941, in Pittsburgh, a daughter of Lowry and Almeda Broberg Shephard.
Mrs. Bowen was a 1959 graduate of Peters Township High School and a 1961 graduate of Point Park University, from where she earned an associate’s degree.
She worked as a receptionist for 25 years for AUMA Actuators Inc.
Mrs. Bowen was a member of Gold Wing Road Riders. She loved motorcycle riding and visited every state in the continental United States on a motorcycle.
She was a member of Church of the Covenant in Washington and a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 97 in Canonsburg, where she was a past worthy matron.
On August 24, 1963, she married Charles Bowen, who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Charlene Dorsey (Willy) of Wheeling, W.Va., Dru Bowen (Marci) of McDonald and Jescinda Yonish (Mark) of Claysville; seven grandchildren, Wesley, Zachary, Austin, Fallyn, Nikki, Brianna and Christopher; three great-grandchildren, Luca, Connor and Ryan; a brother, Alan Shephard (Sandy) of Hickory; a lifelong friend, Nancy Reedy; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K. McIlvaine, owner/supervisor, 27 Cherry Avenue, Houston, PA 15342, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 2, with her nephew, the Rev. Stuart Broberg officiating. Interment will be held privately in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Church of the Covenant, 267 East Beau Street, Washington, PA 15342.
