June E. Suwak
June E. Suwak, 64, of Burgettstown, died Tuesday, January 23, 2018, in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born December 31, 1953, in Tachikawa, Japan, a daughter of the late Shelton C. Dail and Judy Tsuruoka Dail of Bellevue, Neb.
Mrs. Suwak grew up in Bellevue and graduated from Bellevue High School and attended Creighton University in Omaha, Neb. She entered the U.S. Army and graduated from Walter Reed Army Institute of Nursing, Washington, D.C.
Following her graduation, she served at Fort Leavenworth, Kan., from 1975 to 1978, followed by service with the 82nd Field Hosipital in Omaha, until 1980. In August 1980, she entered the U.S. Air Force, where she served at Davis Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona for four years, then took an assignment in Yokota Air Base in Japan for four years, returning to the states in May 1988 to serve as evening and night shift supervisor for two years at Ehrling Berquist Strategic Hospital at Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska. In September 1990, she entered the University of Nebraska’s graduate nursing program, graduating in May 1992 with a master’s degree in nursing. In June 1992, she reported to the 28th Medical Group as the assistant chief, nursing services and outpatient coordinator, where she served until her retirement May 13, 1994, following 23 years of total service.
She was Lutheran and with her husband, the Rev. Peter Suwak, was involved with pastoral work and ran youth programs for several churches. She was also involved with the mentor program in Accident, Md., where her husband was serving as pastor.
She was a member of American Legion.
Surviving, in addition to her husband and mother, are three brothers, Bill Dail of Dallas, Texas, George Dail (fiancée Sharon McCoy) of Papillion, Neb., and Michael Dail (Kris) of Louisville, Neb.; three sisters-in-law, Janet Dail of Lincoln, Neb., Patricia Suwak of Washington and Penny Suwak (Michael Dufalla) of Washington; a sister-in-life, Sherry Mason; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased, in addition to her father, are two brothers, Wayne and Roy Dail.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 3, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 102 North Main Street, Accident, MD 21520, with Bishop Matthew Riegle officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Arrangements are entrusted to McIlvaine-Speakman Funeral Home Ltd., Robert K.
