On Sunday, July 1, 2018, David “Dave” Carroll, 46, of Claysville, formerly of Beechview, died peacefully surrounded by his family in UPMC-Shadyside hospital, Pittsburgh. For the past 19 months, David courageously battled cancer, continually inspiring those who loved and cared for him.

David was born December 8, 1971, a son of Daniel and Theresa Stinner Carroll of Texas, formerly of Pittsburgh.

After graduating from Our Lady of the Sacred Heart High School in Coraopolis, Dave studied finance at St. Vincent College and computer science at Robert Morris University.

In 1997, Dave married his college sweetheart, Heidi Anderson, and for more than 20 years, these best friends adventured, laughed, cried and loved. Together, they delighted in having three magnificent children, Megan 16, Sydney 10 and Finley 1.

Dave’s heart and mind were filled with hobbies and ideas, and he could always be counted upon to help those in need. He earned his life badge in the Boy Scouts and worked at Heritage Boy Scout Camp between high school and college. During college, Dave volunteered as a firefighter with the St. Vincent College Volunteer Fire Department. He was a loved and respected team manager at Fidelity National Information Systems.

An avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, Dave was a dedicated husband and father with an insatiable appetite for adventure. He loved camping with his family while embarking in off-roading excursions with the Fort Pitt Land Rover Group, among other Land Rover clubs. Dave coached his daughters’ soccer teams with Baldwin-Whitehall Soccer Association, Brookline Regional Catholic School and McGuffey Highlander Soccer Club.

Dave was a hardworking, hard-playing man and a friend to all. He was honest, trustworthy and loyal. Dave will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife, children and parents, Dave leaves behind his grandmother, Mildred Stinner of McKees Rocks; his sister, Kate (Tim) Jacoby of California; and his “brothers,” Bob, Rob, Tim, Tom, Rick, Mark, Adam, John and chief. He will not be forgotten by his nieces and nephew; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and hundreds of very good friends from all over the globe. Dave is now reunited with his beloved Pap, undoubtedly crafting new adventures and telling great tales.

Family and friends are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, in Sacred Heart Church, Claysville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or The Carroll Kids Care Fund at Community Bank, 200 Main Street, Claysville, PA 15323.
