Diane P. Cushman, 72, of McMurray, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018.
She was born May 6, 1946, in Wheelwright, Ky., a daughter of Joseph John Peraino and Ada B. Conley Peraino, who preceded her in death.
Diane resided in McMurray for many years and made it her mission to get to know the members of her community. She had the innate ability to turn strangers into friends, thus bringing many people into her life. She was an incredibly generous woman who supported various charitable organizations and local artists.
She enjoyed the outdoors, as evidenced by her love of golf and her great passion for gardening. A true hostess at heart, she was a culinary genius and had a talent for turning her home into a showpiece; frequently, she threw themed parties for her friends. At one time, she even won a local Christmas decorating contest.
An avid card player, Diane was credited for educating many in the art of poker. She loved animals and enjoyed observing them in nature, especially around her beautiful home and neighborhood. Described by her friends as a “spitfire,” life will be a little less exciting without her.
She is survived by a sister, Shirley Koepcke (Chris) of Naples, Fla.
Diane leaves behind her devoted cat, Mikey.
She will be deeply missed by her family of dear friends, Eric and Paula Reese, Bob and Joanne Feyche, Christine Mussomeli, Joseph Barker, honorary grandsons Carson and Andrew, Harold and Amy Smith and Shari Newman; and loyal neighbors Dan, Jill, Ryan, Eric, Evan, Alex and Marlene.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Cushman, and her longtime partner, Richard Bandi.
She touched the lives of many, many people and she will always be lovingly remembered.
At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation and all services will be private. Arrangements are entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner/supervisor, Darla A. Tripoli, LFD, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
