Esther Evans Smoke, 63, passed away surrounded by her loved ones Friday, July 6, 2018, after years of battling liver disease and melanoma.

She was born January 12, 1955, in Finleyville, a daughter of Robert and Lorraine Evans.

Esther started her career with Consolidation Coal in 1973 and spent over 40 years working in the coal and gas industry. Her real and abiding passions were her family and friends, especially her nine grandchildren.

She lived to make others happy and to impress upon them the importance of life, family, friendships and laughter. She cherished family visits to Walt Disney World and Ocean City, N.J., and loved family gatherings at her home for Sunday dinners.

She is survived by her husband and friend of 39 years, James Smoke; children and spouses Jordan and Abby Smoke, Morgan and Stephen Glancy and Sydney and Kevin McLaughlin; grandchildren Jacob, Jordyn and Kennedy Glancy, Sadie, Nolan, Quinn and Callie Smoke, and Raleigh and Winnie McLaughlin; sister Donna; and her brothers and wives, Bob and Pat Evans and Terry and Gayle Evans; aunt Wilda Ferguson and uncle Donald Barton; many nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends.

A viewing will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Beinhauer Funeral Home, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, 724-941-3211, where a funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, July 16. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to onegiftonechild.org, an organization which inspired her.

Spend time with your children, take an adventure with your loved ones and make a toast to enduring friendships – this is what Esther would wish.
