David M. Simpson
David M. Simpson, 62, of Dilliner, died at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2018, in his home, as a result of heart failure.
He was born Thursday, February 2, 1956, in Waynesburg, a son of the late John Albert Simpson and Carrie Louise Staggers Simpson.
Mr. Simpson was a 1974 graduate of Waynesburg Central High School.
He was a member of Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461, National Rifle Association and Nemacolin Shooting Academy. He was a former member of Waynesburg Sportsman Club. He was a union member of United Mine Workers of America.
For 10 years, he was a 4-H leader with Market Steer Club in Waynesburg. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He worked for 38 years as a coal miner with Cumberland Mine.
His wife, Clarketta Orndorff Simpson, whom he married May 26, 1979, died September 29, 2003.
Surviving are two sons, Wesley Simpson and wife Bianca of Waynesburg and Lanfer Simpson and wife Kristin of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Brysen, Brylee, Landon and Lincoln; two brothers, John A. Simpson Jr. and wife Marie of Waynesburg and J. Randy Simpson and wife Sheri of Waynesburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a son, Derrick William Simpson.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home Inc., Daryl L. Throckmorton, owner/director, 197 North Maiden Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 19, with the Rev. Kathy Higgins officiating. Burial will be in Fairall Cemetery, Whiteley Township, Greene County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in memory of Dave to 4-H Livestock Scholarship Fund, Greene County Extension Office, 26 West High Street, Waynesburg, PA 15370.
