Linda M. Kowcheck, 78, formerly of Avella, died at 1:35 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2018, in Rosewood of the Ohio Valley, McKees Rocks.

She was born January 17, 1940, in Hopewell Township, Bedford County, a daughter of the late Meryle Jennings and Kathryn Mary Johnson Kichman.

Mrs. Kowcheck was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church in Avella, was a former member of Wellsburg (W.Va.) Art Association and a former member of West Middletown Garden Club. Mrs. Kowcheck worked as a board secretary and business manager at Northern Bedford County School District for 10 years before working 27 years at Avella Area School District as board secretary and business manager. Her husband, M. Edward Kowcheck, whom she married February 15, 1969, died July 26, 2011.

Surviving are two brothers, John Kichman and wife Joyce of Hopewell and William Kichman and wife Linda of New Enterprise; sister Judith Digon and husband George of Mechanicsville, Va.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be no public viewing or funeral service and arrangements are entrusted to Yoskovich Funeral Home, Martin J. Yoskovich, funeral director, 300 South Vine Street, Carmichaels.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to West Middletown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 97, West Middletown, PA 15379.
