Paul R. Schons, 94, of McDonald, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018.

He was born December 30, 1923, in McDonald, a son of Charles M. and Margaret Lemon Schons.

Mr. Schons was a 1941 graduate of McDonald High School.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a union carpenter for Local 142 for 40 years, from where he retired in 1989.

Mr. Schons was a member of St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and McDonald Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, attending many games at Three Rivers Stadium.

On August 12, 1950, he married Marie Prebeg, who died November 18, 2005.

Surviving are two sons, Charles M. “Chuck” (Beverly L.) Schons of McDonald and Robert P. Schons of Midway; four grandchildren, Kimberly (Josh) Yatsko, Charles III, Paul II (Marissa) and Matthew Schons; and two great-grandchildren, Madelynn Yatsko and Brennen Schons.

Deceased are an infant daughter, Nancy Schons, and a sister, Theresa Schons.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, in St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church, McDonald, PA 15057. Everyone is asked to meet at the church. Interment will take place in Robinson Run Cemetery, McDonald.
