Marilyn K. Connelly, 79, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, in her residence, with her loving husband by her side, after a lengthy illness.

Born in Glen Dale, W.Va., to parents Robert and Ruth Ballinger Anderson, she was the oldest of two daughters and was raised in Claysville.

After graduating high school, she attended Washington Hospital School of Nursing. She later returned to school after starting a family and earned a bachelor of nursing degree from Carlow College, while working full time at St. Clair Hospital. She taught and mentored nurses, some of whom are now head nurses in emergency rooms in the Washington area. Her career spanned more than 40 years, until her retirement.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and sister Nikki. She was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend and dedicated emergency room nurse. She became a loving grandmother to four boys, Kory, Stephen and Vincent Vorum of Washington and Nicholas Padron of Tampa, Fla., and two girls, Shea and Keira Callahan of Salem, N.H. She was also a great-grandmother to Easton Vorum of Washington. She always considered her children and grandchildren her greatest blessing and accomplishment. “Nana the nurse” will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Nana is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Bob, and daughters LuAnn (Gonzalo) Padron of Tampa, Tracy (Steve) Vorum of Claysville and Stephanie (Paul) Callahan of Salem.

“To Nana, I loved you then, love you still, always have and always will!”
